Another Chance To Win, Inc

WHO WE ARE

Another Chance To Win, Inc. (ACT Win) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Baltimore, Maryland, created to empower women as they rebuild their lives and move toward stability, independence, and a brighter future.

ACT Win's primary focus is supporting women transitioning from incarceration, women experiencing homelessness, women fleeing domestic violence, and women facing other significant barriers to stability and self-sufficiency.

We believe that every woman deserves an opportunity to move beyond the circumstances that have held her back.

Our work is centered on providing support, resources, advocacy, temporary housing opportunities, and connections to services that can help women overcome barriers and rebuild their lives.

Family Matters

We also recognize that a woman's circumstances can affect the people around her—especially her children and family.

When a woman has the opportunity to become stable, secure, and self-sufficient, her family can also have greater opportunities to grow and succeed.

For this reason, ACT Win provides limited support to youth and students when their educational or essential needs are connected to family circumstances, financial hardship, or other barriers.

Our work begins with women, but our impact can extend to the family and the next generation.

ACT WIN IN ACTION

Turning Our Mission Into Action

ACT Win believes that a mission is meaningful when it is put into action.

Our work continues to grow through programs, partnerships, volunteers, outreach, and opportunities designed to support women, families, youth, and students.

WOMEN & REENTRY

ACT Win works to provide encouragement, support, resources, advocacy, and opportunities for women rebuilding their lives.

CORRECTIONAL-FACILITY PROGRAMMING

ACT Win is developing programming designed to provide women within correctional settings with meaningful opportunities for encouragement, learning, personal growth, ministry, and preparation for life beyond incarceration.

HOUSING

ACT Win is developing temporary housing opportunities designed to provide stability while individuals work toward their next stage of independence.

STUDENT SUPPORT

ACT Win provides limited assistance to students who may experience financial, educational, or family-related barriers.

COLLEGE STUDENT SUPPORT

Creating Stability for Students.                        Supporting Educational Success.

College students can face financial hardship, difficulty obtaining essential supplies, and challenges securing safe and stable housing.

These circumstances can interfere with a student's ability to remain focused on education and successfully complete their academic goals.

ACT Win seeks to support college students through:

  • Essential donations

  • College resources

  • Educational support

  • Basic-needs assistance

  • Appropriate temporary housing opportunities

  • Housing partnerships

  • Connections to community resources

TEMPORARY STUDENT HOUSING

ACT Win is working to develop temporary housing opportunities for college students who may benefit from safe and stable housing while pursuing their education.

The goal is not simply to provide a place to live.

The goal is to help remove barriers, create stability, and give students an opportunity to remain focused on their education and build a successful future

Our Story

ACT Win was created from a desire to help women who have experienced difficult circumstances have an opportunity to move forward.

We understand that rebuilding a life is not always easy. Women may face barriers related to housing, employment, finances, family responsibilities, trauma, transportation, and access to resources.

ACT Win seeks to meet women where they are and help connect them with the support and opportunities they need to take their next steps.

WOMEN & REENTRY

Are At The Heart of  Act Win

ACT Win recognizes that when a woman is experiencing incarceration, homelessness, domestic violence, financial hardship, or other difficult circumstances, her children and family may also be affected.

For this reason, ACT Win extends limited support to youth and students when their needs are connected to family circumstances or educational barriers.

Support may include:

  • Food

  • Toiletries

  • School supplies

  • School-related expenses

  • Senior dues

  • Graduation-related support

  • Educational resources

  • College essentials

  • Other basic needs that may interfere with educational success

ACT Win may support students experiencing circumstances such as financial hardship, family instability, or the effects of parental incarceration.

Our student support is not separate from our mission. It is one way ACT Win recognizes the importance of family and the future of the next generation.

Our work begins with women, but our impact can extend to the family and the next generation.

Founder/President & CEO

Another Chance To Win, Inc. (ACT Win) was founded by Sharon Pitchford from her commitment to helping women overcome difficult circumstances and have an opportunity to rebuild their lives.

Through ACT Win, Sharon has worked to develop an organization centered on women, reentry, stability, family, and opportunity.
